Mac crash post #1

by Jason on April 30, 2007

If you think any of this gibberish looks interesting, you should poke around and subscribe to my RSS feed to keep up with new content.

My MacBook Pro just crashed again. I got the little black box that says, in about four languages “you must restart your computer.”

That makes four days since the last time it crashed. Just for fun, I’m going to start making a post every time my Mac crashes when I’m doing something (relatively) harmless.

This time, it crashed after I plugged in my external HDD. Yes, external drives are iffy. No, it should not cause a complete system failure.

I forwarded your earlier complaint about frequent MacBook Pro crashes to my friend MicroMat Tech 3… He suggested you post your questions at the MacFixit Forum. I didn’t look to see if there were similar problems but you could…

Since changing various Macs to OS X we haven’t had a single computer crash. On occasion an application will crash but never the whole system.

Good luck.

Yeah, I have yet to crash my system as a whole, though once in a while an application will poop out. But I’ve got a PPC, not Intel.

Still, my shot-in-the-dark guess is that it’s more a hardware issue than a system issue.

Good luck.
