As many of you may already know from my tweets or text messages, I broke down and bought an iphone on Thursday. It was a snap to set up an it has been a lot of fun to play with so far.
I am, in fact, writing this post from the phone right now.
Here is a list of my impressions so far:
- The keyboard works wonderfully. I’ve written seveal long emails on I’d and, obviously, this post. No sweat.
- The battery: considering what I do with the phone I am *very* impressed with the battery. Right now I’m trying to get two full days out of one charge and I’m right on track.
- Email is clunky. You can’t aggregate multiple accounts into one inbox, and “sync” doesn’t really do anything. They are missing some essential functinality here that I hope they fix in the future. It can’t be that hard, and it would make the phone A LOT more ueful.
- Text messaging is really really fun. My plan comes with 200 of them, but the ichat-like interface makes it really easy to eat up 5 or 10 messages without noticing. I might have to bite the bullet and spend the extra $10 per month for 1500 texts.
[Edit: also, there is apparently no scroll bar in the post window for the iPhone, so I can’t edit any text from my phone if it’s below the point where I’d need to scroll to see it. Lame.]
