About

Jason-Preston.com is my personal blog, and it contains a collection of articles I’ve written and links I’ve found interesting since 2005. I’ve always had an interest in technology, startups, and video games, so I’d expect to find plenty of things in those categories.

About Jason:

jason-bnw-borderJason Preston is the Vice President of Strategy and Product Development for the Parnassus Group, a Redmond-based company that produces conferences and parties around emerging technologies, and provides social media intelligence to clients and partners seeking to effectively participate in online communities.

Jason has worked with clients on shaping blogger engagement strategies, creating blogs, and understanding the business value of social media tools like Twitter and Facebook. He has spoken at numerous local and national conferences including the Web Community Forum, The Tweet House, and Ignite Seattle. He has written about social media and emerging technologies in Crosscut and Seattle Business Magazine.

In his spare time, Jason maintains a number of side-projects, the most interesting of which is Potluk, a web service that allows users to create their own personal “Hacker News” site – a private or public collection of links that group members can vote and comment on.

He graduated from Occidental College in 2007 with a Bachelor’s degree in Diplomacy and World Affairs, which is a fancy way of saying “Economics, Business, Politics, and Philosophy.”
